The Best Summer Moisturizer and Skin Care for Oily Skin
Whew, it’s hot out there! Your face is greasy, your pores are clogged, and you’re sweating like a marathon runner just walking from your car to your office. So you probably think your skin is naturally oil, right? Not necessarily. In most cases, oily skin is simply the result of your climate. To keep oil at bay, choose the best summer moisturizer for oily skin that's also formulated for your unique environment. Here are summer skin care tips for oily skin for keeping skin gorgeous—not greasy—all season long.

Add More Moisture.

Skin needs hydration all year round, even in sweaty weather when you are literally dripping with moisture! In hot weather, the body releases sweat to try to cool itself down. But humid conditions prevent the sweat from evaporating, leaving perspiration sitting on the skin. (FYI: You sweat just as much in hot, dry conditions, but because of the lack of humidity in the air, the sweat evaporates immediately so you don’t notice it as much). The body continues to try to release heat, and the heat melts sebum (which is usually waxy in texture) on the skin, leaving an oily residue on your face. So you have that to deal with too. The best way to rebalance the skin and prevent oiliness is to moisturize. But any old hydrating product isn’t going to cut it. Pour Moi products contain a propriety complex called HyalurTruf+, it's a blend of three sizes of hyaluronic acid molecules (big ones to grab moisture from the water in the atmosphere and small and medium ones to steal moisture from the foods and drinks we consume). In humid weather, the large ones have plenty of moisture to pull from the air. The other part of the complex is White Truffle extract which hydrates and replenishes the skin barrier with much-needed nutrients.

Choose a Day Cream Based on the Level of Humidity in Your Climate.

Most people associate summer with humid weather, but this is really only the case in tropical environments (think Florida) or polar environments (like the Northeast, which have extreme summers to match their extreme winters.) Desert climates, on the other hand, are dry all year round. So choose a Pour Moi Day Cream based on the level of humidity in your area during the summer. If your summers are dry (like in California or Arizona), select Desert Day Cream, which contains Pour Moi’s proprietary Desert Climate Energized Beautifiers (D-CEBs) like Squalane Oil and vitamins A, C and E, which keep the skin barrier hydrated and protected when temps climb to between 75°F — 120°F and humidity dips to between 5% — 45%. (CEBs are a group of ingredients that are specially formulated to deal with the weather fluctuations, indoor environments, and pollutants associated with a particular climate.) If your summers are super humid, choose the Tropical Day Cream, which contains The Tropical Climate Energized Beautifiers (TR-CEBs) like Coconut Acid and vitamins A, C and E to reduce oily skin- when temperatures reach 75°F—120°F and humidity is sky high at 65%—100%.

Use a Lightweight Formula.

The last thing you want to do when you’re skin is feeling oily is to smooth on a thick, heavy moisturizer, which will only make your skin look and feel greasier than it already is. That’s why Pour Moi’s creams are all lightweight in texture; ingredients were chosen not only for their hydrating and anti-aging benefits, but also for their weight. Only the lightest emollients and emulsifiers are used in Pour Moi products to create a silky, weightless feeling on your skin—which is especially important when you’re dealing with oily skin issues.

Layer with an Oil-Controlling Serum.

To combat oiliness, follow the our three step process. Start by smoothing on the Pour Moi Hydrating Balancer—there’s only one type for each climate. This product basically preps the skin to soak up all the nurturing ingredients you’re about to slather on by restoring the skin’s pH level, sloughing off dead skin cells, and reducing inflammation and irritation. Then apply Pour Moi White Serum, which is formulated for oily, normal, combination, and sensitive skin. The White Serum helps keep oil production in check with ingredients like glycerin; and promotes a youthful complexion with ingredients like seaweed extract to minimize the look of dark spots and even out skin tone, and purified oat extract, which tightens and lifts the skin. The White Serum is also packed with tons of peptides, antioxidants and botanical extracts to keep skin healthy, smooth, and radiant. Squirt out a small drop and gently pat and smooth the serum over your face and neck. After the White Serum has had a chance to delve deep down into the skin (this takes a minute), slather on the Pour Moi Day Cream that is best suited for your particular climate. The result: perfectly hydrated summer skin without any greasiness.
